Decluttering on a sunny day

Hello lurkers,

Yep, it has been quite sunny and hot here in the land of windmills and tulips. It is in fact too hot to be doing too active things. Best to spend with plenty of cold drinks and ice cream while lying in the sun or in the shadows.

8c5096ec0781362671b46a8f6d4beddbMonday I did try to do just that. It is always nice to have friends over and hear them say “What a lovely house!” Especially when you’ve been running around like an idiot only an hour before their arrival to make sure the house looks not too messy. Things have been so busy lately that clutter had been piling up everywhere in the house. I confess that I am not the neatest person on the planet. But it helps when there are people who want to come over. Because God forbid they find out that I manage to have not 1 but 2 chairs somewhere under the gigantic mountain of clothes! God forbid that anyone finds out that aside from Droppie Bunny’s corner, which gets cleaned daily, the rest of the house sometimes goes days without dusting, vacuuming or moping.

And so, while it was nice and sunny out, I decided to declutter my house. There were dishes in the sink that waiting to be washed. The chairs underneath the clothes mountain needed to be freed. I was sweating like a pig by the time I was done decluttering and had put some veggie-soup on the stove. There was still an hour for me to rush into the shower, put on something casual. Just when I wanted to kick my feet up in the garden and enjoy a cigarette, the doorbell rang.

Together with my friends we sat in the backyard for a while, enjoying the sun and some ice cream. We talked and laughed, it was a great sit in the sun. Afterwards when it had started to cool off outside, we watched Back To The Future in my decluttered living room and had cake. Yesterday was fun.
