I love scary movies… Watched Quarantine today

I really love scary movies. They crack me up so bad, that I tend to scare the people around me with my laughter. I especially tend to laugh during the so-called scary scenes.

My best friend likes scary movies too. She flinches during those specific scenes that I crack up on. She says it makes it less scary to watch a scary movie with me, thanks to my laughter.

This movie, Quarantine, is in my opinion pretty good for a scary movie. They build op the tension quite nicely. I’m not going to ruin the story for those who haven’t seen it. All I’m going to say is; they really know how to draw you into the movie.

The entire movie is filmed throughout the eyes of a cameraman and his camera. During the first minutes you assume you are watching some dull news item or school project done by a journalism student. They trick you very nicely with this. Ofcourse, they suddenly have to enter a certain area and the story evolves into a plain old zombie-like movie, with monsters crawling everywhere. Yes, I sure love zombies. Human flesh eating creatures tend to make me laugh.

I googled the movie and figured out that there are actually more Quarantine movies out there. So that means I watched the first one of the saga. I’m not sure if the follow-ups are any good. Sequels of certain movies just tend to be not that good.

For instance; I really thought the Saw saga was becoming quite dull, to be honest. I know Chester Bennington apparently stars in the latest Saw movie. That isn’t convincing enough for me to go out there and watch the movie, though. Not just yet, anyway. I tend to wait longer… I have downloaded it but just can’t seem to put myself to actually watch it. I tend to do that a lot with stuff I download these days…

Still need to watch The Critters. Now that’s a funny movie! The sequals to that movie are quite entertaining as well. I remember watching the movie when I was about 8 years old. It’s not a kids movie though. I crapped myself watching The Critters. Couldn’t stand easter eggs eversince. Until I grew older and watched more scary movies throughout my life. That’s when I could find humor in the good old monsters, actors who try to come across as terrified and the noises in the background tend to crack me up too. I’m really grateful for the fact that my parents allowed me to watch scary movies at a young age. Maybe I’ll do the same for my kids, if I’ll ever have any. Yes… There’s just so much humor in a good scary movie. Sometimes scary movies can be funnier than the so called Comedies they bring out these days.

But yeah, I think there aren’t really that many movies with good sequals. Except for The Critters, depending on what you concider good ofcourse. And maybe Lord of The Rings and Pirates Of The Carribean. Johnny Depp is just a great actor, whatever he does is gold to me. He could dress up like the mad hatter and still impress me. Oh wait, he did. But those aren’t really scary movies.

With scary movies it’s probably just too difficult to keep that same “scariness” and genuine “thrill” to the follow-ups. The impact is just… Gone… The story becomes too predictable and ofcourse all scary movies tend to be predictable in some sort. You just know that when it’s awefully quiet in a scene that something odd or scary will pop up.

Some things in a scary movie are just hysterical. Like in Quarantine, for instance… Don’t know why I even bother asking myself why they run upstairs all the time and hide in the shower or some other odd hiding place. Wondering why nobody in the scene responds to the fact that a man with a broken spine and broken rib with red bloody eyes stands up and walks with his arms stretched out. The only response is “help him, he seems to be in pain”. Meanwhile the guy starts munching on someone’s neck or arm and they all go “aaah!” Yeah, that’s some funny shit… Or a kid who appears to be sick throughout most of the movie and nobody wondering whether she could be the cause of all evil…. That was one of the best parts of the entire Quarentine movie, to my sick point of view. Scary kids are pure entertainment.

Anyway…

I still think Saw 1 is a very good scary movie too, though. Watched it in the cinema with a few friends when it came out. For some reason, we were expecting some dull movie. So we had some hard liquer before we went in and watch Saw. Vodka, I just love vodka…. I can tell you this; watching Saw 1 completely wasted was a hell of a good time. We were laughing so hard during the entire movie. Especially the ending just cracks me up. Even now when sober thinking about it, it just makes me chuckle. Not because it’s bad, scary movies just make me laugh. The good ones do, anyway. The bad ones just make me feel… Awkward…

Ah…. Scary movies… Ah, great fun.

Coming back to the earlier post I made: What-a-ya-know, it’s actually raining again. It was such a nice sunny day. Thankfully it’s supposed to be “bed time” and I don’t have to go outside anymore.

Tomorrow’s going to be another movie day, I guess. First we’ll watch some stuff my best friend’s kid can watch also. Lord Of The Rings is on the movie menu still. My friend’s kid thinks the lil Precious goblin is cute. It makes her laugh. Other kids would’ve thought that creature to be scary, maybe.

My best friend’s kid is 8 and slowly becoming a lil mix of my craziness as well. I always tell people who see me with my best friend’s kid that it’s my borrowed kid. Sometimes she’ll ask me how I was as a kid. I can see her at age 12 having a nice presentation about the human heart, with an actual heart. Cause that’s what I did at that age. And my friend’s kid felt inspired and said she’d follow my lead and do the same when she’s 12. That’d be funny. Her mom feels very sorry for the teachers who are going to face that moment. Just like my mom felt sorry for the teachers who had to face me when I had presentations in middle school. Yes, I was a twisted little kid. Still am 😛

I’m rambling again. I say good day!

  1. I love scary movies, one of my favorite types of film. I haven’t seen Quarantine yet I may rent it this weekend, I can recommend Insidious and Grave Encounters if you haven’t seen them.

  2. LOL. nicely written. I laugh at scary movies, too. During the gorey parts though. Unless it’s something like Evil Dead or Pumpkin Head, then it just scares the heck out of me.
