Early mornings

If you had told my younger self that I would one day willingly wake up early, I would have laughed you in the face. Mornings used to be my enemy. I fought the alarm clock like it owed me money. I was never an early bird.

Somewhere along the way, though, things changed. Every now and then, I actually enjoy the early hours. Especially when it is dark outside and the world is asleep. There is a special kind of peace in that quiet.

My morning routine starts easy and warm. A nice bowl of porridge for breakfast, along with my first cup of tea. It feels good, calming, and is the best way to wake up.

Next, I move into my slow housekeeping. No rush, no stress. I handle my small tasks one by one—starting the laundry, emptying the dishwasher, and sweeping the floors while outside it is still dark and quiet. It feels satisfying, like resetting my little world.

And finally, the best reward: my first cigarette of the day, with a proper cup of coffee. Sitting on my balcony, I watch the sky change from dark to bright. Occasionally, a car or bike goes by. But mostly, it’s peaceful and quiet. I wouldn’t trade these calm mornings for anything.
