Sleepless Nights

Person lying in bed using a glowing smartphone at night

Doom scrolling, once again. My mind is clogged up with worries, doubts and fears of tomorrow. But the glowing screen is my friend and my foe, with an endless buffet of random distractions. And thus I scroll on, even though my eyes are begging for mercy. Time isn’t just crawling; it’s a sloth in slow-motion, every minute dragging like a weary traveler. Hours just… melt away. I tumble down a rabbit hole made of random AI slop, unnervingly cute baby rabbits, and over the top dramatic Dhar Mann movies. My worries? Oh, they’re piling up, a heavy, super annoying mountain of laundry I’d rather ignore.

Sleep is out there, somewhere, that tricky little thing. Just out of reach, but always in my thoughts. I wrestle with my anxiety as the fears hang around like uninvited guests who just won’t take the hint. I love sleep. I crave the sweet embrace that takes me to dreamland, far from this chaos and the buzzing notifications. Snuggled and safe. Eventually, the phone will go dark. The fears will fade. I’ll face plant into my pillow and have that long-awaited snore duet with my spouse. Fingers crossed it’s soon, after these long, quiet, sleepless nights.
