Anime Saturday: Studio Ghibli & Chill

It’s been a while since I’ve devoted a Saturday post to anime. So…

Not too long ago I met up with this nerd, who seemed to be an anime geek too. He claimed to have seen all the classics: Akira, Dragon Ball Z, Cowboy Bebob and Sailor Moon. Yet somehow he never heard of Studio Ghibli. He literally said “Must be some amateur anime studio because I don’t know it and I only watch popular high quality anime.”. To each their own of course…. But to call Studio Ghibli an amateur anime studio is an insult.

A lot of the Studio Ghibli films are now available on Netflix, (except for those who do not live in the USA, Canada or Japan). In January 2020, Netflix acquired the rights to 21 Studio Ghibli anime classics such as Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Monokoke and many more. I confess that I’ve binged them all over and over again. I told this supposed “high quality anime lover” to give it a go if he happens to Netflix and Chill on his own.

Do you like Studio Ghibli films? If so, what is your favorite one?
