Earlier this month, Mike Shinoda shared an image of 1001 paper cranes. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish. Some stories believe you are granted happiness and eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
What did Mike wish for? We can only guess.
I know what a lot of fans have been wishing for, though. For the band to finally make an appearance again and to have clarity over what Linkin Park will do in the future.
Then yesterday, Mike Shinoda finally shared a selfie on his Instagram account again. It has been quite a while since he had done such a thing. The last selfie he shared on Instagram was actually 3 days before Chester’s tragic death…
Today, Linkin Park has announced to do a show in honor of Chester Bennington’s life on October 27 in the Hollywood Bowl. The flyer reads “Linkin Park and friends”, which implies that other people might bring tribute on the stage as well. Maybe Dead By Sunrise and Stone Temple Pilots will be there. Maybe other musicians who the band has collaborated with throughout the years. I’m only hoping that for fans who cannot be present, that perhaps this special show will be recorded.
Tickets will go on sale tomorrow for LPU Members and on September 22nd for everyone else. More info can be found on the band’s official website: go to linkinpark.com
Today, the band has also released the new video to the title song of their latest album; One More Light. The video is directed by Joe Hahn & Mark Fiore.
Joe Hahn has directed videos of the band before, but he’s stated that it was incredibly emotional to work on this one. He did a wonderful job bringing a great memorial video to his late friend and bandmate.
The video itself looks amazing. I myself am still not able to listen to the song, though. Feels go all over the place. Let’s just say that the waterworks seem to work at their own will.
One day at a time. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Things will get better.
