Contagious Christmas Cooties

cock-vs-turkWhy is the Christmas vibe so infectious? It’s contagious! It begins with a random person who hums christmas songs even before it’s December. Then some send you a christmas card on the first day of December. Some people put up their christmas trees around that time too, decorate their houses and go gift shopping. And I too suffer from Christmas cooties, I too have been spreading the jolly Christmas vibe with Infinite Santa web episodes on this blog, handing out christmas cards and gifts.  But to put up a christmas tree somehow just took a while for me to… Actually do.

Weren’t sure whether we wanted a christmas tree at all, until yesterday. I had been pondering about it all week. Cause why make such an effort in dragging that tree out of the shed and throw confetti in it, to take out the confetti and drag the tree back into the shed a week after? Then again… I guess it does looks cozy and nice, a tree in the middle of your living room.

To get me more into the christmas spirit, my friend and I went shopping yesterday. She wanted to get some stuff for her 9-year-old. Found some cute things for under their tree 🙂 Afterwards we had a cup of coffee at her place.

My friend already had her christmas tree up and decorated since Monday, while mine was still collecting dust in the shed. And then yesterday I saw how she had decorated her entire house too. It looked really nice. It inspired me to want to rush home and to take the tree from the shed, dust it off and throw decorations in it.

I was playing with the thought of having an upside-down tree this time. It was actually a suggestion another friend blurted out. “Why not hang your tree on the ceiling?!” she said. That sure sounded like a good plan! But to make a hole in the ceiling somehow didn’t feel like a good idea. But it sure looks interesting, though.

Also went shopping for our lil christmas dinner with mom. We are going to have some Soto Ayam, an Indonesian dish with lots of chicken. And there’s ice-cream for dessert. Nothing too fancy but tasty and festive enough 🙂

Besides, there’s going to be food at church, after the Christmas Celebration. So we don’t have to have TOO many dishes on our own menu.

Well… I’ll just have to give up on my diet for the upcoming few days. Cause all these tasty dishes that will make it hard anyway to stay in shape… I’ll just get my diet on after like… christmas dinner and new years. Call it a new year’s resolution if you must.

Aside from the Soto Ayam and the ice-cream, we will also have some DELICIOUS Nastar, Indonesian cookies. They are home-made by my aunt who is the best cook ever. Her cookies are SO good that even when you feel you’re stuffed, you can’t STOP eating.

She is opening her own Indonesian Cookie store soon. Her gift in cookie baking alone will make it a grand success! Well actually; It’s a success already, the woman is getting orders for Christmas since September. Hmmmm, those nastar cookies are to die for. I’m looking at the box and I have a hard time to have just one more bite….

Anyway.

So, we’re all set…. All set for days filled with lots of eating and lots of presents. All set to surprise people with that special gift. All set to attend church again after a loooong time. All set to get dressed up for the Christmas service – got a cute dress and a nice jacket to go with it, along with these stiletto pumps I found at a mayor discount. So we’re all set for Christmas. The christmas cooties sure are infesting nicely. Just 3 more days to go and then it’ll be like a friggin Christmas cooties epidemic.

Speaking of cooties, I really need to wash my hair. But I’m gonna dye it first. Better go do that now. But; I’ll have a nice cup o’ hot choco with some vodka and a cigarette first.

Note-to-Self: Hide the cookies in a better place. And roll another blunt.
