When I was about 10 years old, we had these show-and-tell days. Each kid could talk about a specific subject and you’d get grades for it. Boys would talk about their favorite sports and demonstrate their kung-fu tricks while the girls shared their stories about their favorite animals.
But I, on the other hand, was already quite twisted back then. Instead of taking along pictures of a horse or a map of Far-Far-Away, I took along a Tupperware box. The tupperware contained the brains of a farm animal. I think it was either that of a sheep or a goat, it wasn’t that big. Then again, the human brain isn’t that big either. But they don’t sell human brains so I had to go for the brains of a farm animal instead. Yes, what a pitty.
I remember how disgusted everyone was when I took the brains out of the tupperware box for a moment, just to show everyone what I was talking about. It’s just so much easier to point out all the different lobes of the brains, when you actually hold the brains in your hand 😛
Even the teacher shuddered. (Who usually came across as a pretty tough guy). Ah, how fun it is to shock people 🙂
Because I loved shocking the class, I figured to do a similar stunt a year later at a show-and-tell day. I brought along the heart of a goat or sheep to present to the class. Passed the tupperware box with the heart around the classroom. I believe a girl even ran out of the classroom feeling too disgusted..
The brain is just fascinating.
