Almost done – the making of a piñata

We’re almost done! My best friend and I have been working on this piñata for her kid’s birthday. The birthday will be this Saturday.

Yesterday we finally managed to stuff the piñata with candy and glue the head on the body. Today we worked on the details. The doll is now dressed in a yellow with orange dress and I’ve also made some earrings and a little purse. The original idea for the piñata was to make Belle, from Beauty and the Beast. But we figured to make a chocolate brown princess instead and named her Patty.

Patty has impressed the neighbors today, btw. It was nice and sunny today, so we dragged the massive piñata to the balcony so she could dry faster while we glued her into her dress and fixed up her make up and stuff. The response of this little old lady was just to die for.

She drove by on her little scooter and was shocked; “What the hell are you girls doing to that poor kid?!” she yelped. The poor old lady thought we were torturing my best friend’s kid. She actually thought it was a  real person. I can’t blame her, the doll is the same height as my best friend’s kid. The doll has the same skin color now too. From a distance, you could actually think it might be a real person… That old lady is so cute 🙂

This other lady couldn’t help but stare at Patty either. She walked by a few times and eventually my best friend just invited her in, because the woman just couldn’t stop asking about the doll.

Might be a real business in this, man; Making piñata’s is fun 😛 It’s a lot of work though, especially when they’re this big. We’ve been working on Patty for about a month, off and on. To know that she is finally ready to smashed into little pieces in just two days from now is just… Wonderful.

So yeah, feeling quite proud about it. Too tired to share pictures though. Did snap some. Might share them some other time.

We are going to videotape it, when the kids are going to attack Patty with sticks. I just can’t help but chuckle each time I think about that.
Tomorrow we have other arrangements to make. Prepare snacks and games for the kids to when they all arrive this Saturday; that’s 10 hyperactive kids. Please pray and cross your fingers for us that me and my friend will survive this glorious birthday. I am just hoping that we will be tiring the kids enough on Saturday with some old fashioned Dutch games like “pooping screws”, “fish for apples in a bucket”, some dodge ball and a water balloon fight, the karaoke and then of course the piñata smashing… Yes man, gonna need some ADHD on Saturday man.

BTW, have I mentioned that I started eating carrots instead of candy and sweets? I LOVE carrots. Have been doing it for quite some time now, eating carrots instead of candy. It’s tricky sometimes. Especially when there’s all this candy to stuff into the piñata. So I couldn’t help myself and I had one licorice. But I guess licorice isn’t that bad, it’s good for the throat and stuff… And I still use sugar in my coffee and tea, I just try not to eat candy anymore. I feel a lot better since I’ve cut back on eating that junk. But I could surely use a sugar rush on Saturday… With all the kids with their energy.

Or I could just stick my nose in some of the glue we still have left from the piñata making. That stuff makes you act weird man, even you’re not literally sniffing or smoking it. My friend and I are loopy by nature, but the glue just made things a lot worse the passed few days. Singing along to Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello”, changing the lyrics into;

“Patty, you are gonna get smashed up so bad.
And all the kids will laugh;
cause you look just like a drag.
I can’t wait to grab my hammer and smash it in your ass
And the neighbors might complain,
Thinking that we are insane.
While we hang you from the balcony
Hope they won’t call the police
But it’s gonna be loads of fun
Having the kids tearing you up, hon’
Your insides will fall to the ground
Oh Patty, you’re going down…”

Yes… We’re lame. I better go to bed. Tomorrow is another day filled with loads of activities and… Yada yada yada…
