So. Monday was a very sunny day. It was a fun day with family and friends traveling by train and bus to the christian pentecost celebration otherwise known as Opwekking (Revival Weekend).
We arrived just in time to see Paul Baloche perform with a choir and the Opwekking band. It was crowded, thousands of people gathered on the field and inside the huge tent where he performed at.
The atmosphere was awesome. What a nice guy too. He sang some of his own songs and other well known praise songs. He even did an attempt to sing along in Dutch. What a trooper!
At one point the electricity fell out. No lights, the microphones and electric guitars didn’t work either. That didn’t stop the crowd nor the choir though. Paul Baloche continued the show with a megaphone. Everyone kept singing all known praise songs.
It looked a little like this actually:
All in all it was a wonderful day. My friend had never been to Opwekking and she really thought it was a great experience to be there. People are just so at peace during the Festival and the music is awesome. The best about this festival is that it’s free. All you have to pay for is trainticket to get there, or the gas if you go by car and maybe a parking spot. I’m glad to have gone to the festival with my friends and family again after all these years. I’m going to make it a tradition again. XD
Another nice thing about Opwekking is that they have the festival right next to theme park Walibi World, which used to be called Six Flags Holland. So after praising the Lord you can jump into a rollercoaster if you feel like. How cool is that?
